Assessments

Village Prep teachers assess students every four to six weeks throughout the year in order to ensure that all students are making progress toward state goals. The assessments being used are:
- KRA-L (Kindergarten Readiness Assessment- Literacy); used at the beginning of the school year only, to determine which students might need targeted instruction
- DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment)- used every six weeks to measure growth in reading abilities
- DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators for Basic Early Learning Skills)- This is done monthly used to assess the acquisition of early literacy skills from kindergarten through sixth grade. It is designed to be a short fluency measure used to regularly monitor the development of early literacy and early reading skills
- Terra Nova- a nationally-normed test to be administered at the end of the kindergarten year
We also create our own standards-based assessments in all content areas to ensure scholars are mastering specific Ohio indicators for kindergarten/first grade.
Beginning in first grade and extending through fifth grade, all students will take the Stanford 10 (SAT 10), a nationally-normed referenced assessment to measure progress over time.
In accordance with the state of Ohio regulations for public schools, beginning in the third grade, Village Prep will follow the required Ohio Achievement Assessment schedule.
